Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker is hoping for an improved performance from his side against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.

Stellies secured a 1-1 draw with Swallows FC in the opening game of their DStv Premiership season.

Goalkeeper errors at both ends led to the goals, with Barker expecting his side to be more prepared when they visit the Orlando Stadium.

Bucs beat Stellenbosch the last time these two sides faced each other but were held to a 1-1 draw with AmaZulu on Saturday.

Ahead of this week's game, Barker was reported by the Sowetan to have said: "I don't think that it was our best performance against Swallows, to be honest.

"We gave away possession cheaply and allowed them too much space on the ball. We accept a point from our opening match. We were not at our best in the first match."

Barker added: "We are still waiting for one or two players to come back from injury and suspension and two new signings from abroad.

"But we are looking forward to the match against Pirates, and we are going to Soweto to try and win the game."
