WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Portland Timbers beat Philadelphia Union 2-1 in the semifinals of the MLS is Back Tournament on Wednesday night.

With the win, Portland advanced to the tournament final, where they will face the winner of Orlando City and Minnesota United.

Orlando and Minnesota will match up against each other in the other semifinal on Thursday.

American player Jeremy Ebobisse scored on a header off a corner kick early in the first half to give Portland a 1-0 lead, and Argentine midfielder Sebastian Blanco scored in a very similar fashion in the second half to help Portland go up 2-0.

It was Ebobisse's fourth goal of the tournament and Blanco's third.

The Union scored in the last minutes to come within one goal, but Portland sat back on defense in stoppage time to hold on for the win.
