RIO DE JANEIRO -- The Brazilian government has authorized testing in the country for a COVID-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford, officials said on Wednesday.

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) said that the vaccine is one of the pioneers in the fight against the virus, and Brazil will be the first country outside the United Kingdom where its efficacy will be tested. (Brazil-COVID19-Vaccine)

BERLIN -- Germany has agreed on an economic stimulus package worth 130 billion euros (146 billion U.S. dollars) to mitigate the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chancellor Angela Merkel said late Wednesday.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. private space company SpaceX launched its eighth batch of 60 Starlink satellites into space on Wednesday.

The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 9:25 p.m. Eastern Time (0225 GMT Thursday). RAMALLAH/GAZA -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Movement and Islamic Hamas movement announced on Thursday that they will resist Israel's plan of annexing Palestinian lands in West Bank.

"We won't let the Israeli annexation plan pass and we will continue all types of struggle and resistance until the occupation of the Palestinian territories ends," said Fatah in a press statement. (Gaza)
