ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 16 (PIA) -- The Philippine Army's community support program-assisted barangay in Cuartero, Capiz has been granted livelihood assistance by the government.

This, after the farmers in Barangay Putian, Cuartero town now have a livelihood project to support them.

Recently, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has granted the request of the Putian Farmers Association for a Grains Flatbed Mechanical Drier project.

According to First Lieutenant Hazel Joy Durotan, information officer of the 61st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, the project was realized because of the concerted effort of the local government of Cuartero, stakeholders and the Community Support Program (CSP) Teams that were deployed in the area.

Durotan said that the project, costing P800,000, aims to help 85 members of the Putian Farmers Association and would-be members of the association.

She added that the beneficiaries of the project were mass base supporters of the terrorist groups who have already pledged their allegiance and support to the government.

"The CSP Teams assigned in the area have helped the organization in the preparation of all the needed documents and requirements for the granting of the project," she said.

In the blessing and inauguration of the project, 61IB commanding officer Lt. Colonel Joel Benedict Batara said that the granting of the project is the government's affirmation of its strong commitment to help geographically isolated and depressed communities.

"It only shows that the Army is truly for the people, and the CSP is our tool to prove our sincerity in helping and addressing the socio-economic problems of these communities," Batara added.

The livelihood assistance is part of the government's effort to implement Executive Order 70 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte that institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation" approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace to end local communists armed conflict.

Also present during the event were 301st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Orlando Edralin, Engr.
